The first official plants to beautify Alpine Boulevard are now on display in front of The Alpine Sun newspaper and at the nearby Alpine Woman’s Club!
Jennifer Tschida, associate publisher of the newspaper and Alpine’s 2018 Honorary Mayor, was there to help celebrate the occasion on Dec. 1 outside the newspaper at 2144 Alpine Blvd.
Six native plants were planted there and another six that same morning at the Alpine Woman’s Club at 2156 Alpine Blvd.
Jon Green, Back Country Land Trust program and outreach director, supervised the planting and provided seminars about caring for native plants.
Tschida, who is expecting a baby very soon, was particularly delighted with the small native oak tree planted at The Sun’s spot.
“Jon picked a little baby oak to grow up with my baby,” she said. “Talk about making a pregnant woman cry!”
