Alpine Elementary and Boulder Oaks Elementary are putting their best foot forward with their students’ extraordinary art! If you haven’t seen what our
localschools are up to, try to stop by on Thursday during their Art Shows, to see an amazing amount of talent on display. Margaret, the Art docent for Boulder Oaks gave the Alpine Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Alex Ward, and Membership and Events Director, Lori Bledsoe a pre-event tour of the incredible items they are showing.
The students have been studying famous artists from past eras such as Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, Picasso, Federick Remington, Georgia O’Keefe, and more recent notable artists such as Laurel Burch, and David Hockney along with Peruvian art, Inuit Art, and Pop Art. It’s such a variety of genres and mediums that the display is nothing less than impressive.
Recent grants from the Alpine Kiwanis have allowed each school to have a kiln. Because of this, visitors will see many ceramic creations that were crafted on site and fired in the new school kilns.
The Art Docents that volunteer to broaden the artistic minds of our young Alpine students have worked hard to bring out the best in each child. They are teaching, not only the fundamentals of art, but that art is truly individual to each artist.
The best part is that several of these pieces will be on display at our April 13, Alpine Spring Art and Music Festival. Come out and enjoy what these Alpine students have created!
