Alpine Chamber of Commerce Career Days 2019
Students at Mountain Empire Unified School District and Alpine Union School District got an inside look at future employment opportunities at the Alpine Chamber of Commerce 2019 Career Days. On March 22, fifteen businesses gave their time to students at Mountain Empire High School, and on March 29, 17 businesses gave their time at Joan MacQueen Middle School, sharing what it was like to work in different careers.
Tammy Olivic of Saddles In Service at Storm Son’s Ranch, spoke to the students at Mountain Empire High School, sharing how she became the owner of a local rescue that reaches out and challenges first responders, military members, veterans and their families to rediscover their strength, purpose, and confidence through the freedom of a horse.
Saddles In Service at Storm Son's Ranch is a Veteran founded non-profit organization promoting wellness and healing for our Heroes and Horses at absolutely no cost. She told the students that it was okay to not know what you wanted to do when you got out of high school. There are so many avenues to take, and views change as opportunities open.
Descanso Town Hall Association and Barons Market provided a wonderful continental breakfast for all the businesses that participated, including: CAL Fire, Border Patrol, The San Diego County Sheriff, San Diego Parks and Recreation, Mercy Medical Transportation, Grossmont Community College, Cuyamaca College, The Philanthropic Educational Organization, Port of San Diego, On Line Bookkeeping, Kiwanis Club of Alpine, and Reach Medical Air Transportation, Mountain Empire Teachers, Alpine Chamber of Commerce.
