Celebrate the holidays in Alpine, Mountain Empire
By the Alpine Mountain Empire Chamber of Commerce
Everyone’s invited to the first official event on Saturday, Dec. 1, to beautify Alpine Boulevard!
Twelve native plants will be planted and native plant workshops will be held between 9 a.m. and noon outside The Alpine Sun newspaper at 2144 Alpine Blvd. and the Alpine Woman’s Club at 2156 Alpine Blvd.
“It’s going to be a volunteer workshop,” said Jon Green, Back Country Land Trust (BCLT) program and outreach director. “We’re going to teach people how to plant native plants. There will also be some pruning and plant protection.”
The project by the Alpine Mountain Empire Chamber of Commerce, BCLT and the Certified Community Wildlife Habitat is a continuing effort to make the boulevard more attractive.
There will be more plantings in December and January!

Congratulations to the Alpine Community Center for delivering more than 50 free Thanksgiving dinners to the homes of Alpine senior residents!
This was the center’s 21st year of the program for older people who are homebound, on a limited income or don’t have family in the area.
“They (seniors) were excited, tickled pink, very appreciative,” said Cindi Robertson, operations manager of the center at 1830 Alpine Blvd. “One woman I talked to was overwhelmed with gratitude.”
Robertson thanked the “amazing delivery drivers,” Alpine Albertsons for their Turkey Bucks program that provided the meals and the generous Albertsons customers and private community donors who helped make the free dinner program possible.
