Our Communities

Welcome to the Alpine and Mountain Empire region of San Diego County!

Although our East County residents share the beauty of rural country that stretches across forested mountains to breathtakingly beautiful desert terrain, each of our communities has its own personality. There is no confusing the foothill charms of thriving Alpine or scenic Pine Valley with the yesteryear lure of Campo, for instance. Each community reflects the style of country living that its residents favor, blending the conveniences of the 21st century with the appeal of timeless history.

Government

The Alpine and Mountain Empire area of far east San Diego County, which has more than 4,200 square miles, is unincorporated without any cities. All business-related permits for the region must be obtained through the county.
